Words can confer strength; they can drain it off; Words can gain friends; they can turn them into enemies; words can elevate or lower the individual. One must learn the habit of making one’s words sweet, soft, and pleasant.
To trust a stranger without investigation invites troubles so endless that even descendants must endure them. To rust a man who has not been tested and to suspect a man who has proven trustworthy lead alike to endless ills.
Hostile attitude only serve to heat up the situation, whereas a true sense of respect gradually cools down what otherwise could become explosive.
From craving is born grief, from craving is born fear. For one freed from craving there’s no grief – so how fear?
When salt mixes with water, it takes the form of water. In the same way samadhi or trance means the mind merging with the cosmic soul or God.
To enjoy good health, to bring true happiness to one’s family, to bring peace to all, one must first discipline and control one’s own mind. If a man can control his mind he can find the way to enlightenment, and all wisdom and virtue will naturally come to him.
Faith is composed of the heart’s intention. Light comes through faith… O Faith, give us faith!
